Position Overview

The Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) is a highly technical role responsible for the administration, performance, availability and security of both Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server database environments. This position ensures the stability and scalability of enterprise data systems supporting critical business applications across development, testing and production environments.

The DBA will manage complex database infrastructures including Oracle Database Appliance (ODA), Data Guard, ASM, RMAN, SQL Server AlwaysOn and SSRS. This role requires strong hands-on technical expertise, proactive monitoring and tuning capabilities and a strong focus on automation, security and high availability. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical and comfortable operating in a fast-paced production support environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop automation scripts (T-SQL, PowerShell, Bash, Python).
• Monitor system health, performance and alerts.
• Support capacity planning and database growth management.
• Maintain operational documentation and runbooks.
• Administer SSRS environments, including setup, security and configuration.
• Manage reports, datasets, data sources and subscriptions.
• Monitor and troubleshoot report performance and delivery issues.
• Optimize reporting performance through tuning, caching and snapshots.
• Install, configure and maintain SQL Server environments (2016–2022+).
• Manage backups, restores and disaster recovery (AlwaysOn, FCI, Log Shipping, Replication).
• Monitor and optimize performance using DMVs, Query Store and execution plans.
• Maintain indexes, statistics and database integrity (DBCC CHECKDB).
• Enforce security best practices including roles, auditing and encryption.
• Support developers with query tuning, schema reviews and deployments
• Automate SQL Server tasks using T-SQL and PowerShell.
• Administer Oracle databases (19c+) across dev, test and production environments.
• Manage Oracle Database Appliance (ODA), including patching, upgrades and lifecycle management.
• Support high availability and DR using Data Guard and ASM.
• Perform performance tuning using AWR, ASH, ADDM, OEM and SQL tuning tools.
• Design and manage backup/recovery using RMAN and validate restore procedures (RTO/RPO).
• Handle security controls including access management, encryption and auditing.
• Troubleshoot database, storage and infrastructure issues across Oracle environments.
• Automate tasks using scripting (Bash/Python) and maintain documentation.

Qualifications

• Five or more years Oracle DBA experience, including production support.
• At least one year of hands-on Oracle Database Appliance (ODA) experience.
• Three to seven years SQL Server administration experience.
• Strong expertise in Oracle ASM, Data Guard, RMAN and OEM.
• Experience with SSRS administration and reporting environments.
• Proficiency with SQL, PL/SQL and performance tuning.
• Experience with Linux (Oracle Linux or RHEL) and scripting.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT or equivalent experience (preferred).
• Oracle OCP/OCA certification preferred; ODA certification a plus.
• Microsoft Azure DBA certification a plus.
