Prepares students to pass the CPC examination. Essential Functions Presents facilitative, well-prepared, organized, and clear lectures and classroom activities consistent with the course syllabus (AAPC curriculum, medical terminology, anatomy & physiology, advanced medical coding, HCPCS coding, ICD-10 coding) and school policies. Continually promotes students’ development and effective use of skills in areas such as critical and analytical thinking, evaluation, communication, professionalism, customer service, computation, problem solving, and decision‑making. Ability to instruct through remote and in-person delivery (Blackboard, virtual classroom, and/or online using a Learning Management System). Provides the student with timely information and feedback on his/her academic progress relative to quizzes, tests, homework, and projects. Maintains accurate, up-to-date records of student academic and attendance performance. Possesses a thorough knowledge and understanding of all College policies, and actively participates in their implementation and enforcement. Follows all retention policies of the College to ensure students are in attendance. Performs other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Education and Experience/Training Must be a Certified Professional Coder Instructor (CPC‑I) with the AAPC. Minimum of three years of experience as a Medical Coding Specialist in the field. Minimum of three years of teaching or related field experience. Demonstrated experience managing key metrics. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Ability to assess and grade the progress of students. Ability to multi‑task in a fast‑paced environment. Sensitivity to appropriately respond to the needs of a diverse population. Demonstrated experience with online instruction. Professional presentation skills. Physical Demands/Working Conditions The work is performed in a normal, professional office environment. The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the duties of the job and will perform repetitive motions with hands/fingers using a computer mouse and keyboard to type. There may be some walking, standing, bending, and carrying of light items such as papers, files, pamphlets, books, etc. Work may also require walking and standing in conjunction with travel to and attendance at meetings and conferences away from the worksite. Set‑Rate Non‑Bargaining Part‑Time Position This is a Part‑Time Non‑Bargaining Unit Position, with the following Set Rate of Pay: $30.00/hour .
