This is a pivotal leadership role designed for an experienced Architect seeking to trade the burnout of a large-scale firm for a high-impact position with a transparent and defined path to firm ownership. Compensation and Benefits Salary: Anticipated annual salary of $145,000–$160,000, commensurate with experience. Ownership Pathway: This role is specifically designated for an individual seeking a defined trajectory toward Equity Partner. Responsibilities Studio Operations & Staffing Oversee and optimize team assignments using project management software to ensure balanced workloads and peak delivery capabilities. Identify staffing trends and provide strategic recommendations for hiring or restructuring to meet firm growth. Monitor and report on staff utilization and resource alignment to meet operational goals. Project Budget & Performance Analyze project budgets, timelines, and milestones to safeguard firm profitability. Lead bi-monthly Work-in-Progress (WIP) meetings to track performance and implement recovery strategies. Ensure project scopes and fees are aligned with client expectations and firm standards. Project Oversight Track contract deadlines, deliverables, and internal workflows to ensure seamless execution. Coordinate schedules across internal and external teams to mitigate delays. Maintain rigorous quality assurance across all physical and digital deliverables. Mentorship & Staff Development Mentor Project Architects and Project Managers, actively fostering their leadership growth. Support staff in understanding broader firm goals and their specific operational impact. Assist in strategic recruiting by crafting job descriptions and interviewing candidates as the firm expands. Financial Oversight Review staffing costs relative to project revenues to ensure healthy cash flow. Monitor architectural billing, accounts payable, and profitability tracking. Technical Support Provide high-level technical oversight and design input to ensure the accuracy and quality of alldeliverables. Offer hands-on assistance with architectural drawings and specifications as required. Education and Experience Licensure: Candidate must be an actively registered Architect in the State of Illinois. Experience: A minimum of 10 years of professional experience is preferred, with at least 5 years of demonstrable Project Management experience leading teams from inception through close-out.
